Senior Performance Engineer (AI)

Salary: $149,400–$195,050 (Zone C), $162,000–$211,500 (Zone B), or $180,000–$235,000 (Zone A) per year in the United States

What you will do

• Design, build, and evolve MCP servers, tools, agent-facing APIs, and integrations based on agent-to-agent architectures.
• Develop accessible, responsive React and TypeScript interfaces for AI capabilities, MCP tools, and A2A interactions.
• Optimize performance and reliability across frontend clients, gateways, MCP servers, search services, and downstream systems.
• Build semantic retrieval capabilities using embeddings, vector indexes, hybrid search, ranking, reranking, and permission-aware filtering.
• Define AI/ML quality programs, benchmark datasets, evaluation metrics, safety testing, and human-feedback processes.
• Integrate automated evaluations into CI/CD and implement secure enterprise integrations with OAuth 2.1, tenant isolation, audit logging, and prompt-injection defenses.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience building and operating enterprise systems, APIs, or cloud-native products.
• Strong TypeScript/JavaScript and React experience, including accessible, responsive, and performant web applications.
• Hands-on experience with MCP servers, tools, agent-facing APIs, or related context and agent frameworks.
• Experience applying distributed-systems principles and improving latency, throughput, availability, error rates, token consumption, and end-to-end task cost.
• Practical experience with AI/ML evaluation, semantic search, vector databases, GraphQL, REST, streaming APIs, SDKs, and event-driven systems.
• Proficiency in Python or Go, strong testing and API design practices, and experience leading initiatives and mentoring engineers.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with MCP architecture, the A2A specification, and agent collaboration frameworks.
• Experience with observability, secure model-to-model communication, enterprise integration patterns, API governance, or developer experience platforms.
• Contributions to open-source AI frameworks or standards development initiatives.
