Principal Test Engineer (Semiconductor Lasers)

What you will do

• Develop, implement, and release factory test strategies, processes, and tools for EML and CW laser production.
• Ensure testing meets required speed, scale, cost, and quality targets.
• Perform statistical data analysis and troubleshoot root causes to improve yield.
• Drive test automation, process improvements, test-time and cost reductions, and yield improvements.
• Lead troubleshooting and failure-analysis activities with suppliers and the Operations team to improve tester uptime and utilization.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in test engineering or tester and equipment development.
• Strong experience developing software tools for statistical data analysis using SQL and JMP.
• Experience with Gage R&R, correlation, test coverage, and qualification.
• Ability to interpret and analyze test results and data, correlate test data with fab inline processes, and improve yield.
• Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, data-analysis, and data-driven analytical skills.
• BS or MS degree in electrical engineering, information engineering, or another relevant major.

Nice to have

• Experience with semiconductor lasers, including edge-emitting lasers or VCSEL-related device design, process development, and characterization.
• Familiarity with photonics mounts, housings, semiconductor laser diodes, LEDs, photodetectors, driver ICs, and optical components such as lenses, diffusers, and DOEs.
• Strong communication skills, including hosting effective meetings, facilitating actions, and resolving conflicts.
• Ability to drive actions and solutions through cross-functional teams.
• Fluency in Japanese.
