Location: Onsite in Penrose, Colorado, with work transitioning to Pueblo, Colorado. Travel up to 20%, including occasional overnight travel to the Minden, Louisiana area. Applicants must be U.S. Persons eligible to work with ITAR-controlled technology; U.S. citizenship is required if a security clearance is needed.
Salary: $200,000–$230,000 USD base salary annually, excluding benefits and bonus or incentive compensation.

What you will do
- Lead and mentor chemical engineering teams across process design, equipment fabrication, pilot demonstrations, production scale-up, automation, and energetic materials manufacturing.
- Support chemical and energetic materials programs from development through PDR/CDR and Low Rate Initial Production.
- Set engineering strategy, plans, and resource allocation to meet performance, cost, schedule, and quality objectives.
- Oversee requirements, models, procedures, design documentation, risk assessments, and other engineering deliverables.
- Represent engineering in technical and program reviews while developing talent through coaching and performance feedback.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field with 5+ years of experience, a master’s degree with 3+ years, or 9+ years of chemical engineering experience in lieu of a degree.
- 15+ years of hands-on chemical synthesis and pilot plant chemical creation experience, including process design and production scale-up.
- 5+ years leading technically complex projects in a regulated or defense environment.
- 5+ years supervising chemical engineering teams of at least five engineers.
- Must be able to work onsite in Penrose, Colorado, transitioning to Pueblo, Colorado.
- Must meet U.S. Person, export-control, explosives-license, background-investigation, and applicable security-clearance eligibility requirements.
Nice to have
- Experience establishing new chemical manufacturing capabilities and working with electrochemistry, evaporation, crystallization, dewatering, drying, grinding, mixing, and energetic-materials packaging.
- Experience with instrumentation, PLCs, industrial communications, Aspen, ChemCAD, MATLAB, and SolidWorks.
