Executive Vice President, Engineering (Aerospace, Defense & National Security)

Location: Onsite in Long Beach, California, or the Denver Metro Area, Colorado. Travel of up to 35% may be required, including overnight travel to company locations.

Salary: $290,000–$340,000 USD base salary annually, plus incentive plan eligibility.

What you will do

• Set the strategic vision, technical direction, and organizational roadmap for the engineering function.
• Lead, scale, and develop engineering organizations through hiring, mentoring, performance management, and organizational design.
• Oversee end-to-end product development from concept and architecture through testing, certification, delivery, and post-deployment support.
• Establish engineering excellence across systems design, development processes, quality standards, and operational execution.
• Partner with executive leadership on strategic initiatives, business development, major program pursuits, and cross-functional alignment.
• Drive technical, schedule, and cost risk management across complex programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.
• 15+ years of engineering experience in aerospace, defense, or a comparable high-technology industry.
• 10+ years of leadership experience managing engineering teams and complex technical programs.
• Experience leading full-lifecycle product development, applying modern engineering methodologies, and scaling engineering teams.
• Strong systems-level thinking, engineering principles, and product development knowledge.
• Excellent executive-level communication, leadership, organizational, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s or Ph.D. in a relevant technical discipline.
• Senior leadership experience within engineering organizations.
• Experience with engineering process improvement and organizational transformation.
• Familiarity with governmental and commercial enterprise and quality management systems.
• Experience with regulated government and commercial programs, regulatory bodies, and certification processes.
