TL;DR
Head of Facilities (Aerospace): Building and scaling physical infrastructure for offices, manufacturing environments, remote test sites, and U.S. government programs with an accent on industrial utilities, permitting, safety, security, and construction execution. Focus on developing regulated facilities involving hazardous materials, classified or cleared spaces, complex infrastructure, and ambiguous operational requirements.

Location: Torrance, California, United States; onsite five days per week. Approximately 25–30% travel is expected, primarily within Southern California, including recurring overnight stays at remote test sites and other project locations.

Salary: $150,000–$200,000 annual base salary, plus potential stock options and company benefits.

Company

hirify.global is a vertically integrated space and defense company developing hardware for low-Earth-orbit missions, including satellite buses, in-orbit servicing robotics, and mission systems.

What you will do

  • Own facility strategy and execution across offices, engineering and manufacturing environments, remote test sites, and facilities supporting U.S. government programs.
  • Translate technical and operational needs into infrastructure decisions covering power, HVAC, utilities, equipment, safety, security, laboratories, manufacturing areas, and test environments.
  • Lead site selection, due diligence, leases, renovations, buildouts, permitting, inspections, construction, commissioning, and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Manage facility-side regulatory, permitting, environmental, fire and life safety, hazardous-material, explosives, and security requirements.
  • Coordinate internal stakeholders, contractors, consultants, landlords, utilities, regulatory authorities, government stakeholders, and security teams while managing budgets and schedules.
  • Inspect sites and construction, review drawings and bids, investigate infrastructure problems, and drive issues through closure.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in facilities, construction, industrial infrastructure, facilities engineering, manufacturing operations, or a related field.
  • Experience leading significant facility buildouts, expansions, relocations, test-site development, or infrastructure projects in aerospace, defense, propulsion, robotics, advanced manufacturing, automotive, energy, or laboratory environments.
  • Strong practical knowledge of electrical power, HVAC, utilities, building systems, permitting, inspections, and construction.
  • Experience with explosives, energetic materials, hazardous materials, or similarly regulated operations is required.
  • Experience with U.S. government security requirements, including classified or cleared environments, physical security, controlled access, and security-stakeholder coordination.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, and applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States. Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance may be required.

Nice to have

  • Experience scaling facilities at an early-stage hardware company.
  • Experience with remote test sites, field facilities, government sites, or highly regulated locations.
  • Experience with machine shops, laboratories, clean or controlled areas, high-power equipment, environmental testing, or propulsion test infrastructure.
  • General Contractor license, PE, PMP, or another relevant professional qualification.

Culture & Benefits

  • Hands-on individual-contributor role working directly with Engineering and Operations leadership.
  • 100% paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees, with 90% dependent coverage, plus life insurance.
  • 401(k) plan with company match and stock options.
  • Relocation financial assistance is available for candidates outside the Los Angeles area.
  • 12 days of paid time off, 12 company holidays, office snacks and drinks, and regular social events.

Hiring process

  • Applications are accepted directly; no agency submissions.
  • Work hours are generally Monday through Friday, approximately 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with flexibility for construction, testing, permitting, inspections, security, and program needs.
