Senior Embedded / Edge Platform Lead (Robotics)

Location: Toronto, hybrid

Salary: CA$170,000–CA$210,000 annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Own the firmware and embedded architecture for a wearable capture device and its edge-computing platform.
• Define firmware, silicon, and hardware interfaces with electrical and camera-software teams from architecture through bring-up.
• Own power management, thermal behavior, data-capture integrity, storage, and OTA update reliability.
• Define embedded testing and diagnostics strategy for factory production.
• Lead and grow the embedded team, set engineering standards, and own code quality.
• Drive post-mortems and root-cause analysis from field and factory issues back into the architecture.

Requirements

• 8+ years of embedded software experience, including ownership of a complete firmware stack on a shipped consumer device.
• Deep expertise in embedded C/C++, RTOS or embedded Linux, drivers, custom-SoC bring-up, and I2C, SPI, UART, and USB.
• Hands-on lab-debugging experience with oscilloscopes and logic or protocol analyzers.
• Strong understanding of power and thermal management and data integrity on constrained devices.
• Experience defining embedded test and diagnostics strategies that identify issues before mass production.
• Experience leading or mentoring engineers.

Nice to have

• Camera or sensor pipeline experience, including MIPI/CSI, ISP, and sensor bring-up.
• Experience partnering with a factory-side embedded or test engineer across time zones.
• Background in body-worn, action-camera, or AR/VR devices.
