New Grad Software Engineer (C++)

Location: On-site in Huntington Beach, California, United States. Employment may require authorization to receive technology controlled under U.S. export control laws without sponsorship for an export license.

Salary: $130,000–$135,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Develop, test, and maintain mission-critical software for autonomous defense platforms.
• Build software across the stack, from embedded software and firmware to autonomy and mission applications.
• Optimize systems for real-time execution, low latency, performance, reliability, and resource-constrained platforms.
• Integrate software with electromechanical systems in collaboration with GNC, embedded, systems, and hardware engineers.
• Build simulation, testing, development infrastructure, automated tests, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Debug complex hardware-software integration issues and contribute to architecture and technical design decisions.

Requirements

• Experience implementing a substantial software project through coursework, research, an internship, a student design team, or a personal project.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Graduation with a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, or PhD by the end of December 2026 or January 2027.
• Proficiency in C++, Rust, Python, or C, with the ability to write clean, well-tested, and efficient code.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States; the position may involve U.S. export-controlled technology and does not offer export-license sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience with autonomous systems, robotics, aerospace, rocketry, UAVs, autonomous vehicles, or complex electromechanical systems.
• Experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers, or RTOS environments.
• Familiarity with GNC, controls, state estimation, sensor fusion, Linux, networking, concurrency, or distributed systems.
• Experience building simulation environments or software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop testing infrastructure.
• Experience with sensors, actuators, communication interfaces, CI/CD, or automated testing infrastructure.
