Software Engineer III - Cloud Platform (Kubernetes)

Location: United States — Birmingham, Alabama; hybrid-based with flexibility to work from home as applicable

Salary: $124,000–$210,000 base annually

What you will do

• Build a multi-tenant cloud platform as a service using Kubernetes on AWS.
• Develop microservices, platform components, and tools that automate the lifecycle of highly available distributed applications.
• Design for software quality, scalability, availability, and security.
• Deploy containerized applications through continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines.
• Develop infrastructure as code using EKS, Terraform, and Golang, while supporting platform observability through logs, metrics, and traces.
• Collaborate with operations, product management, architecture, and engineering teams, including through regular pair programming.

Requirements

• 4–6 years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Experience with REST APIs or gRPC, microservices architecture, service discovery, and API gateways.
• Software development experience with Java, Golang, NodeJS, Python, or an equivalent language.
• Practical knowledge of Kubernetes or comparable container and cloud platforms, Docker, and Linux debugging.
• Understanding of SOLID, hexagonal, and other proven software design principles.
• Experience with distributed tracing, application monitoring, automated testing, and repeatable service automation.

Nice to have

• Experience with multiple cloud platforms or technologies such as Mesos, Cloud Foundry, OpenShift, serverless services, and infrastructure as code.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
• Comfort working in an agile, social, and fast-paced environment.
