Senior Software Engineer (Cloud Platform)

Location: Remote within the United States; listed locations include Poughkeepsie, Lowell, Rochester, Tucson, Research Triangle Park, Armonk, Raleigh, Boston, Bellevue, Atlanta, San Jose, Dallas, Austin, San Francisco, and Seattle.

Salary: $111,000–$207,000 per year.

What you will do

• Design and implement complex backend services in a cloud-native, microservices-based environment.
• Make architecture and technical decisions balancing reliability, scalability, performance, and operability.
• Drive projects from requirements and design through implementation, rollout, and production operation.
• Define SLOs and SLAs, improve observability, and participate in on-call support and incident response.
• Collaborate across teams on APIs, integration points, and data models for the platform.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, design reviews, and technical guidance.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience designing, building, and supporting backend systems in production.
• Strong knowledge of Python runtime environments and proficiency in Python, Go, C/C++, Java, or another major programming language.
• Experience running services in AWS, GCP, or Azure, including Docker, Kubernetes, and modern cloud-native technologies.
• Strong programming, algorithmic, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Experience with metrics, logging, tracing, incident response, postmortems, and operational excellence.
• Must be able to work without current or future visa sponsorship in the United States.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree.
• Experience with JVM, WASM, or other language runtimes and virtual machines.
• Technical leadership across multiple engineers or teams.
