Senior Controls Infrastructure Engineer (Fusion Energy)

Location: San Leandro, California, United States; facility infrastructure supports 24/7 operations.

Salary: $138,100–$207,100 USD per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of facility network and data storage infrastructure across on-premises systems, cloud integrations, and remote connectivity.
• Design network segmentation and Zero Trust access patterns for scientific equipment and data management systems.
• Own performance, availability, security, monitoring, backup, recovery, and capacity planning for 24/7 facility systems.
• Implement infrastructure controls aligned with NIST SP 800-171 and applicable ITAR/EAR export control regulations.
• Support risk assessments and audits in partnership with IT and security teams.
• Provide technical leadership, mentor a growing team, collaborate with scientific and facility stakeholders, and manage vendors and procurement.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in network or infrastructure engineering.
• Direct ownership of production network architecture at facility or campus scale, including routing, switching, firewalls, and segmentation.
• Experience supporting 24/7 operational environments with defined availability targets, cloud networking, and hybrid connectivity.
• Ability to lead projects end to end, including requirements, design, deployment, verification, and documentation.

Nice to have

• Experience in research, energy, or other high-consequence environments.
• Experience with laboratory or scientific equipment networks, instrument connectivity, or OT/IoT segmentation.
• Exposure to NIST SP 800-171 or CMMC.
• Security+, CCNP, or equivalent professional certification.
• Infrastructure automation, IaC, or configuration management experience.
