Senior Systematics Engineer (COBOL)

Salary: $124,600–$211,820 per year

What you will do

• Develop, enhance, maintain, and support IBM z/OS mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, and related technologies.
• Analyze, design, code, test, debug, document, implement, and maintain mainframe software solutions.
• Investigate production incidents, application failures, performance issues, and batch-processing problems, including root cause analysis.
• Create and modify JCL, batch jobs, utilities, and supporting application components.
• Translate business and client requirements into technical designs in collaboration with analysts, architects, and stakeholders.
• Provide technical leadership, participate in code reviews and testing activities, and support the programmer on-call rotation.

Requirements

• 5+ years of IBM z/OS mainframe application development experience.
• Strong proficiency in COBOL and JCL programming.
• Experience supporting and troubleshooting production mainframe applications, batch processing, job scheduling, and job execution analysis.
• Experience with mainframe debugging, testing, and diagnostic tools.
• Experience in financial services, banking, or other high-volume transaction-processing environments.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, prioritization, and independent-working skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with hirify.global Systematics applications and AM-ALS, TX, or GN modules.
• Experience with CICS, DB2, VSAM, IDCAMS, Sort, File Manager, Abend-AID, XPEDITOR, or similar tools.
• Assembler programming experience.
• Familiarity with mainframe performance tuning and capacity planning.
• Experience supporting large financial institutions and core banking systems.
