Production Underwriter (Insurance)

Location: Remote - USA; the position is associated with Seattle, WA

Salary: $80,000–$100,000 annual

What you will do

• Review insurance applications, inspection reports, maps, medical reports, and company records to evaluate, classify, and rate risks.
• Analyze new and renewal submissions, exposures, premiums, terms, indications, quotes, binders, and policies.
• Underwrite or broker risks, confirm documentation, issue policies, complete applicable state filings, and secure payments.
• Market to retail agency customers, cultivate relationships, develop new business, and service existing accounts.
• Use binding authorities and brokerage facilities to negotiate placements and remain accountable for underwriting results.
• Train and guide processors and assistants while improving collaboration with departments, producers, carriers, and competitors.

Requirements

• Five years of insurance experience, including two years as an underwriting assistant, or a desired bachelor's degree.
• Experience with excess and surplus lines underwriting at an agency or insurance company.
• Active P&C state license and E&S license required.
• CIC or CPCU candidacy and thorough familiarity with ISO manuals, forms, rating plans, coverages, exclusions, conditions, and terms.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and paperless work environments, plus an exceptional telephone manner.
• Routine or periodic travel may be required; an acceptable motor vehicle record and minimum insurance coverage must be maintained.
