Director, Actuary (Insurance)

Location: Remote within the United States; territories excluded. Reliable, high-speed internet required.

Base compensation: $180,000–$240,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Lead corporate actuarial functions for workers' compensation and other property and casualty lines of business.
• Direct reserving, reinsurance, pricing, ratemaking, analytics, and actuarial systems integration.
• Develop reproducible predictive and descriptive tools, data pipelines, rate level indications, and advanced actuarial analyses.
• Monitor portfolio KPIs, loss trends, industry developments, and emerging issues; recommend mitigation strategies.
• Manage relationships with reinsurers, brokers, AM Best, auditors, and external consultants.
• Present forecasts, recommendations, and project updates to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 10+ years of progressive insurance actuarial experience.
• Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society required.
• 6+ years of people leadership experience, including mentoring, coaching, hiring, and performance management.
• Strong executive communication, collaboration, strategic thinking, problem-solving, and independent judgment.
• Must live and work in the United States; territories are excluded.

Nice to have

• Experience with Snowflake, SQL, Python, or other programming languages.
• Experience using AI tools to accelerate analysis, drafting, and team productivity.
