Packaging Engineer (AI/ML)

Location: Batu Kawan, Malaysia; onsite at the Penang SDSM Office

What you will do

• Integrate assembly and test data pipelines and transform process data for analysis.
• Develop new manufacturing processes for NPI and transfer them to high-volume manufacturing while maintaining quality.
• Analyze and optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and product quality.
• Design experiments to troubleshoot process issues and validate improvements using Six Sigma and Lean methodologies.
• Develop and maintain factory automation applications using modern frontend tools.
• Integrate factory systems and manufacturing equipment through web services, APIs, and SECS/GEM communication protocols.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechatronic engineering, computer engineering, computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering, data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or a related technical field.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in data science or engineering is required.
• Proficiency in statistical data analysis with JMP and statistical techniques such as regression and distribution analysis.
• Knowledge of machine learning techniques, including neural networks.
• Programming experience with Python or R and database experience with SQL for data mining and analysis.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, teamwork, organization, and multitasking skills.

Nice to have

• Data science experience combined with manufacturing or engineering knowledge.
• Experience or academic projects involving manufacturing automation, MES integration, or factory data systems.
• Exposure to Industry 4.0 technologies, real-time dashboards, or digital transformation in manufacturing.
