TL;DR
Service Validation & Labor Time Technician (EV): Developing and validating on-vehicle service removal and installation procedures, labor time studies, diagnostic troubleshooting trees, and scan tool content with an accent on high-voltage electric vehicle repairability, time-study documentation, and service engineering. Focus on validating procedures and FOTA updates across vehicle milestones, troubleshooting CAN/LIN and ECU systems, and improving repair efficiency.

Location: On-site in Troy, Michigan, United States. Regular schedule is Monday to Friday, 7:00am–3:30pm EST, with occasional flexibility for project deadlines and up to 10% travel.

What you will do

  • Create repair procedures and labor time studies across body, interior, chassis, electrical, propulsion, and restraint systems.
  • Track and document labor-time allowances, including studies for technical service bulletins, recalls, and accessory installations.
  • Validate customer-facing removal and installation procedures, diagnostic troubleshooting trees, scan tool content, and FOTA updates on vehicles through development and production milestones.
  • Collaborate with service partners to maintain the labor time guide and manage changes.
  • Identify repair-efficiency opportunities, respond to field inquiries, and support service issue escalations.
  • Support special service tool validation, fastener torque escalations, and plant repair-bay problem resolution.

Requirements

  • At least one of the following: an associate’s degree, an automotive vocational program, ASE Master Technician Certification, or an automotive OEM Master Technician Certification.
  • 8+ years of automotive technician experience, preferably with hybrid or electric vehicles.
  • Hands-on experience with high-voltage electric vehicle systems, diagnostics, and testing.
  • Experience with automotive OEM time-study procedures and documentation, electrical schematics, vehicle diagnostics, and ECU troubleshooting on CAN and LIN buses.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds and perform standing, walking, and repetitive tasks for extended periods.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work permanently in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

  • Previous automotive OEM or supplier experience.
  • Experience with CAD, Polarion, and regulatory requirements.
