Senior Electrical Engineer (Connected Fitness Hardware)

Location: Boston, Massachusetts; hybrid work. Travel to manufacturing partners in Asia as needed.

Salary: $120,000–$200,000 per year.

What you will do

• Contribute to new product development and improve existing electrical designs, including reliability and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Troubleshoot and debug electrical issues identified during development, production, and field use.
• Perform schematic capture, PCB layout, BOM management, electronics assembly, rework, and repair.
• Bring up and debug electrical designs using laboratory equipment and integrate electronics into complex mechanical assemblies.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, manufacturing, and supplier teams in the US and Asia to improve system reliability and performance.
• Support EMC and safety certification for US and EU regulatory requirements and travel to manufacturing partners in Asia as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience developing electronics in the consumer or medical device industries.
• Ability to creatively solve problems, work analytically and independently, communicate clearly with technical and non-technical teams, and maintain accurate documentation.
• Ability to collaborate in a small team, take ownership of technical problems, and contribute wherever needed.
• Experience with electronics assembly, rework, and repair.
• Experience bringing up and debugging electrical designs with typical laboratory equipment.
• Experience integrating electronics into complex mechanical assemblies.
• Experience designing PCBs with schematic capture and layout EDA tools such as KiCad or Altium.
• Familiarity with certification testing procedures.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with BLDC motor drives and eddy current braking systems.
• Experience interfacing with sensors such as encoders, load cells, and thermocouples.
• Knowledge of high voltage below 400VDC and safety isolation schemes.
• Experience with C programming for firmware prototyping and scripting with Python or Matlab for data analysis.
• Experience with thermal management for electronics.
