Director of Engineering (AI)

Location: Onsite in Pleasanton, California, Monday through Friday

Salary: $260,000–$285,000 annual base salary, plus an annual bonus of up to 20%

What you will do

• Lead and grow an engineering organization of 10–30 engineers, including career development and leadership growth.
• Own the technical roadmap with the CPTO and CEO, balancing product velocity, platform reliability, and technical debt.
• Guide architectural decisions across Azure, frontend systems, REST APIs, and microservices.
• Improve engineering quality through CI/CD, observability, security standards, and modern development practices.
• Partner with Product and Design to drive predictable, high-quality agile delivery.
• Define and execute AI/ML and GenAI initiatives, including LLM integration and scalable MLOps foundations.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience and 4+ years leading engineering teams in SaaS and/or Fintech environments.
• Experience scaling teams, shipping products, modernizing platforms, and embedding AI into production environments.
• Deep expertise in Azure cloud services and REST API or microservices architecture.
• Strong knowledge of observability and security standards.
• Fluency in modern JavaScript and TypeScript frontend ecosystems.
• Strong communication, product sense, and business acumen, with the ability to work with both engineers and C-suite stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience integrating AI/ML, LLMs, or GenAI into production applications.
• Experience in regulated industries such as Fintech or healthcare, including SOC 2 and PCI-DSS frameworks.
• Production experience with React.
