Engineering Manager (AI)

Location: On-site in New York City, United States

Base salary: $280,000–$425,000 per year; compensation listing also states $400,000–$450,000 with equity.

What you will do

• Lead the Platform team responsible for APIs, workflows, and interfaces used to configure simulations, run them, and interpret results.
• Build and lead a team of Members of Technical Staff while remaining hands-on as an engineer.
• Set technical direction, make architecture decisions, review critical designs, and work on the hardest technical problems.
• Set the platform roadmap with Product and Research and turn new research into reliable product capabilities.
• Hire exceptional engineers and establish clear priorities, commitments, and delivery standards.

Requirements

• Previous experience building and operating production systems as a senior engineer before becoming a manager.
• Experience leading a team of four to ten engineers delivering production systems.
• Ability to reduce complexity across architecture, code, process, and scope.
• Ability to give clear feedback early and address performance problems promptly.
• Willingness to work on-site in New York with a fast-moving team.

Nice to have

• Experience with developer platforms, APIs, or products built on ML/AI systems.
• Founder or early-engineer experience at a fast-growth startup.
