Technical Lead Manager (Robotics)

Location: Union City, California, United States; based onsite at least three days per week. No relocation assistance is offered, and applicants must be able to work in the United States.

Salary: $135,000–$235,000 per year, plus benefits and equity.

What you will do

• Lead the design and implementation of critical automation features from concept through full-scale deployment.
• Develop robotics solutions across motion planning, vehicle command, perception, prediction, SLAM, and statistical data fusion.
• Improve vehicle and fleet performance, product maturity, scalability, safety, and reliability.
• Shape the technical roadmap and make architecture and product trade-offs for autonomous robotics systems.
• Use AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Gemini, and GitHub Copilot for prototyping, testing, and deployment.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• 7+ years of hands-on robotics industry experience developing and shipping end-to-end software products.
• Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline.
• Strong object-oriented programming skills in C++ and software development skills in C++ and Python.
• Experience bringing important features from ideation to deployment.
• Experience with computational geometry, LiDAR or vision sensor processing, and real-world noise and uncertainty.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related quantitative field.
• Experience with perception systems, motion planning, and planning pipeline integration.
• Experience with vehicle dynamics, control systems, mission-critical product development, and shipped products.
• Experience with safety systems and certification requirements such as ISO 3691, ISO 13849, or CE Marking.
