TL;DR

Location: Silver Spring, Maryland, United States; onsite at hirify.global’s site

Salary: $18–$27 USD per hour for Maryland-based roles

What you will do

  • Inspect mechanical and electrical components before they are used in traceable spacecraft assemblies.
  • Operate and maintain CMMs, calipers, micrometers, gages, comparators, hardness testers, and other inspection tools.
  • Create standard operating procedures for specific mechanical parts.
  • Document and communicate inspection findings through standardized written records and verbal discussions.
  • Assemble spaceflight mechanisms according to production drawings and procedures.
  • Support process improvements and handle shipping and receiving of components.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Familiarity with common manufacturing processes and aerospace inspection tools.
  • Familiarity with aerospace assembly tools such as torque wrenches, force gages, load cells, and scales.
  • For Inspector II: 2+ years of quality inspection experience in a highly regulated production or manufacturing environment.
  • For work in US offices, candidates must be a US citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or eligible to obtain the required US export-control authorizations.
  • The role requires onsite physical work, including standing or walking for at least eight hours, climbing ladders, working in tight spaces, and lifting up to 25 pounds unassisted.

Nice to have

  • Experience with CMMs, ASME Y14.5, and GD&T practices.
  • Experience with aerospace engineering, mechanical troubleshooting, electrical schematics, and components.
  • Strong technical, mechanical, communication, documentation, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Experience working with physical mechanisms and assemblies in a small-company environment.
