Category Manager - Trading Cards (Trading Cards)

Location: Remote, USA

Salary: $120,000–$130,000 annual base salary in Colorado, plus benefits, equity, and discretionary bonuses. Compensation may vary in other geographies.

What you will do

• Own the trading cards category growth strategy, performance, quarterly goals, and operating rhythms.
• Act as the internal and external expert on trading cards, sports cards, TCGs, grading, pricing, liquidity, and resale economics.
• Build a seller pipeline and personally recruit and onboard flagship sellers, breakers, shops, graders, dealers, and community leaders.
• Plan and execute category-specific campaigns and formats, including set releases, championship spikes, grading returns, live breaks, expert drops, and themed auctions.
• Partner with marketing, account management, partnerships, product, and engineering teams to improve engagement, conversion, seller support, and collector-focused features.
• Document reusable category frameworks and support hiring and onboarding as the team grows.

Requirements

• Deep involvement in trading card culture and strong knowledge of its people, platforms, trends, grading standards, and economics.
• 5+ years of experience in category management, partnerships, marketplace growth, brand, dealer, or operator roles in trading cards, sports cards, comics, toys, coins, or adjacent enthusiast ecosystems.
• Ability to own commercial outcomes, execute, iterate, and adapt in a new initiative.
• Strong relationship-building skills and credibility with collectors, breakers, shop owners, graders, dealers, and community members.
• Data literacy and commercial understanding of pricing spreads, grading premiums, liquidity, margins, and incentives.
• Entrepreneurial and comfortable building a category from the ground up.

Nice to have

• Network of card breakers, local card shop owners, comic shops, grading submitters, toy dealers, or coin specialists.
• Experience buying, selling, grading, or operating within collectibles marketplaces.
• Knowledge of card and comic grading workflows, condition standards, and population reports.
• Experience with content-driven commerce, live selling, enthusiast communities, or a personal collectibles business.
• Experience collaborating cross-functionally with product and engineering teams.
