Principal Program Manager, Databricks & Enterprise Data Platforms

Location: New Jersey, United States (client onsite)

Salary: Starting base salary of $230,000 annually, with potential for a higher base depending on experience, skills, and fit. Performance-based bonus eligibility is included.

What you will do

• Manage multiple concurrent Databricks initiatives for a global biopharmaceutical client across internal stakeholders and vendor partners.
• Lead senior client workshops covering problem framing, solution strategy, modernization roadmaps, and AI and data platform transformation.
• Define enterprise architecture visions, reference architectures, reusable patterns, governance models, and engineering standards.
• Design scalable data platforms across ingestion, transformation, modeling, metadata, lineage, quality, semantic/context, consumption, and observability layers.
• Guide technical delivery across onsite and offshore teams, reviewing solutions for scalability, security, performance, maintainability, and cost optimization.
• Mentor architects, engineers, and technical leads while driving CI/CD, DevOps, testing, monitoring, and operational excellence practices.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in data architecture, software engineering, cloud platforms, AI/ML platforms, data engineering, or enterprise solution architecture.
• 7+ years of consulting, client advisory, or complex enterprise technology transformation experience.
• Strong experience with life sciences, pharmaceutical, healthcare, or other regulated enterprise data environments.
• Hands-on architecture experience with Databricks, AWS, Spark, SQL, Python, cloud-native data platforms, distributed compute, and lakehouse architectures.
• Strong knowledge of data modeling, metadata, lineage, data quality, governance, observability, CI/CD, DevOps, automated testing, monitoring, and cost optimization.
• Executive presence and the ability to lead senior stakeholder discussions, steering committees, solution strategy sessions, and multi-team architecture programs.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS services including S3, Glue, Redshift, EMR, Lambda, Athena, Kinesis, or DynamoDB.
• Experience with Unity Catalog, Databricks Lakehouse patterns, ML/AI enablement, or large-scale migration programs.
• Familiarity with dbt Core/Cloud, Data Vault 2.0, data product architecture, and modern data transformation patterns.
• Experience advising Fortune 500 or Fortune 50 clients and working with global onsite/offshore delivery teams.
