Associate Specialist, Patient Access (Healthcare)

Location: Onsite at Mercy - St Elizabeth Boardman Hospital in Boardman, Ohio, United States

Salary: $17.00–$18.15 per hour, based on experience

What you will do

• Perform admitting, preregistration, and patient account setup for hospital services.
• Assign accurate medical record numbers, collect demographic and insurance information, and process physician orders.
• Verify insurance eligibility, select plan codes, enter benefit data, and support point-of-service collections and clean claims.
• Explain consent, Medicare, Tricare, observation, and other patient forms; obtain signatures and document required information.
• Conduct medical necessity screening using ABN software and complete required documentation.
• Audit accounts, maintain accurate records, operate the telephone switchboard, and provide compassionate customer service.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of customer service experience.
• Ability to work onsite at Mercy - St Elizabeth Boardman Hospital in Boardman, Ohio.
• Inquisitive mindset and openness to innovation, including AI-enabled process improvements.
• Ability to follow organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and audit standards.
