Principal Engineer-Communication Systems (Wireless)

Location: Irvine, California, United States; onsite role

Annual base salary: $75,000–$232,000, plus restricted stock units and quarterly bonuses.

What you will do

• Design and implement physical-layer algorithms for low-power Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Sub-GHz wireless products.
• Simulate communication systems and develop system models for performance evaluation, optimization, and design trade-offs.
• Collaborate with RF/Analog, digital design, validation, and software teams on specifications, algorithms, and digital modules.
• Bring up, test, and troubleshoot wireless communication systems, SoCs, and test chips in the lab.
• Participate in RFIP design, including block specifications and controls.
• Develop design documentation, test plans, and engineering materials.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering with 8+ years of relevant experience in wireless PHY systems design and implementation.
• Strong background in signal processing and communication theory.
• Experience with MATLAB, C/C++, and fixed-point or cycle-true programming and simulation.
• Experience designing modem and digital front-end blocks, as well as IC design, RFIC calibration, and testing.
• Ability to identify and resolve technical and schedule issues collaboratively and communicate technical materials effectively.
• Ability to work onsite in Irvine, California, United States.

• Experience with Wi-Fi or Bluetooth PHY-layer standards.
