Quality Lead (Fusion Energy)

Salary: $116,000–$174,000 USD per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System, including policies, procedures, work instructions, documentation, training, nonconformance, corrective action, and change management processes.
• Build incoming, in-process, and final inspection programs, quality metrics, dashboards, and reporting systems for manufacturing operations.
• Lead internal audits, management reviews, root cause investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Partner with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Production to improve manufacturability, reliability, process capability, and quality ownership.
• Manage supplier quality activities, including supplier audits, qualification, and performance monitoring.
• Lead safety inspections, risk assessments, hazard analyses, incident investigations, emergency preparedness, and workplace risk mitigation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in quality engineering, quality management, manufacturing engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience building or significantly improving quality systems in a manufacturing environment, preferably in advanced manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, energy, defense, semiconductor, scientific equipment, or another regulated industry.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, inspection methods, statistical process control, and quality tools.
• Experience developing policies, procedures, training programs, and operational standards, as well as leading root cause investigations and corrective actions.
• Willingness to spend significant time on the manufacturing floor and perform hands-on work involving standing, climbing, lifting objects up to 50 lbs, and using tools and equipment.

Nice to have

• Experience with electromechanical assembly, electronics manufacturing, ERP/MRP, MES, SCADA, or factory data collection tools.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 45001, AS9100, OSHA, FMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, ISIR, SPC, or 8D problem solving.
• Experience with supplier quality, prototype or low-volume/high-complexity manufacturing, and advanced energy or fusion-related safety frameworks.
• Knowledge of industrial hazards including radiation, high voltage, cryogenic, pressure, or hazardous energy systems.
• Professional quality or safety certifications such as CQE, CMQ/OE, CSP, or OSHA certifications.
