Staff Field Reliability Engineer (Electric Vehicles)

Location: Palo Alto, United States; onsite attendance required 5 days per week. Limited remote flexibility of up to one day per week may become available after ramp-up, subject to manager alignment and business needs.

Salary: $200,000–$240,000 per year, depending on experience, qualifications, and location.

What you will do

• Monitor field performance, identify failure trends across vehicle platforms, perform Weibull life data analysis, and track reliability growth.
• Validate customer usage against rider profiles and duty cycles, identify gaps in reliability test plans, and develop damage metrics for failure modeling.
• Work with the Service team and channel partners to develop a shared service platform and database for customer complaints and part replacements.
• Define the material review board process and perform failure analysis on returned parts to implement corrective actions.
• Define the ongoing reliability testing plan.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in engineering or equivalent, with 2+ years of industry experience in reliability engineering.
• Technical knowledge of reliability for PCBA and electronic components, batteries and power electronics, drive units, or chassis systems.
• Understanding of reliability statistics, life data analysis, and reliability growth.
• Experience with FRACA or 8D, root cause analysis, 5 Whys, Fishbone, Fault Tree, and FMEA.
• Working knowledge of Python or another coding language and statistical tools such as JMP, ReliaSoft, or MATLAB.
• Experience with failure analysis techniques including SEM, CT, X-ray, EDS, and TDR, as well as reliability testing guidelines.
