Staff Reliability Engineer - Power Electronics

What you will do

• Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers to define component- and system-level reliability targets for power electronics and battery systems.
• Provide Design for Reliability input during new product development.
• Drive Design Failure Modes and Effects Analyses and implement risk mitigation activities.
• Develop accelerated life and reliability test plans for components and subsystems using physics-of-failure methods.
• Track field reliability metrics, identify product improvement opportunities, and support warranty analysis with the finance team.
• Lead failure analysis of reliability tests and field returns, determining root causes and corrective actions.

Requirements

• Degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, physics, or an equivalent field.
• Proven experience solving complex power electronics reliability failures.
• Working knowledge of inverter and buck-boost converter topologies.
• Deep understanding of physics of failure and failure mechanisms affecting PCBAs, MOSFETs, capacitors, inductors, and other power electronics components.
• Experience with optical microscopy, SEM, CSAM, X-ray, cross-sectioning, and EDX for failure analysis.
• Knowledge of accelerated life testing models, reliability statistics, battery storage, and relevant mechanical structures.
