Senior Software Engineer (Cloud Platform Control Plane)

Location: Remote within Canada; cities listed include Bedford, Calgary, Markham, Toronto, Vancouver, and Ottawa. Must be able to work in Canada without sponsorship. Applicants on work permits from Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, or the Crimea, Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson, and Zaporizhia regions of Ukraine are not eligible due to export regulations.

Salary: CAD 105,200–154,200 per year on a full-time schedule.

What you will do

• Design, build, test, deploy, and operate secure, reliable, and scalable backend services for the cloud platform control plane.
• Own features and projects end to end, from requirements and design through production rollout and continuous improvement.
• Develop microservices with strong performance, resiliency, and API contracts.
• Contribute to monitoring, alerting, observability, incident response, and on-call operations.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and partner teams on architecture, data modeling, and integrations.
• Improve engineering practices, automation, documentation, and code quality through reviews and tested implementations.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience designing, building, and supporting backend systems in production.
• Strong programming and algorithmic skills in Java, Go, Python, or another major programming language.
• Experience with large-scale backend services, microservices, data pipelines, event-driven architectures, or high-throughput APIs.
• Experience deploying and operating services on AWS, GCP, or Azure, including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of relational databases, NoSQL, or distributed data systems, including performance and scalability trade-offs.
• Bachelor's degree required; work authorization in Canada without sponsorship is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with L3 support engineering and resolving complex customer-reported problems.
• Experience with DevOps principles and automated CI/CD pipelines.
• Exposure to front-end development technologies.
• Master's degree.
