Senior Electrical Engineer II (UAV)

Location: Torrance, California, United States

Salary: $159,500–$302,500 USD per year base salary, plus potential equity grants.

What you will do

• Lead detailed electrical design for complex production systems from schematic capture through layout oversight and design verification.
• Translate system requirements into hardware specifications and contribute to system architecture decisions.
• Guide PCB layout for signal integrity, power integrity, thermal, and EMC requirements.
• Perform worst-case circuit analysis, component derating, and design margin reviews.
• Apply DFM, DFT, and DFR practices to improve reliability and manufacturability at production volume.
• Participate in design reviews, support technical sign-off, collaborate with firmware, mechanical, and systems teams, and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• 10+ years of electrical hardware design experience involving mixed-signal, high-speed digital, and embedded systems.
• Experience taking products from concept through production with a consistent record of first-pass hardware success.
• Strong schematic capture skills; Altium experience is preferred.
• Experience with PCB layout principles, SI/PI, EMC/EMI, DFM, DFT, worst-case circuit analysis, and component derating.
• Proficiency with high-speed serial interfaces including PCIe, MIPI CSI-2, USB 3.x, and LVDS.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field, plus experience mentoring engineers and documenting designs for cross-functional reviews.

Nice to have

• RF and wireless system design, antenna design, RF front-end architecture, or link budget analysis.
• Experience with LoRa, FHSS, UAV, avionics, robotics, or other demanding hardware applications.
• FPGA design experience within embedded hardware platforms.
• Experience with Ansys SIwave, HyperLynx, MATLAB, or Simulink.
• Master of Science in electrical engineering or a related field.
