TL;DR
Electrical Engineer II or III (eGSE) (Aerospace): Designing, developing, and maintaining ground support equipment for spacecraft system and component-level testing with an accent on DAQ integration, communication protocols, and equipment safety. Focus on creating GSE schematics, supporting fabrication and checkout, troubleshooting signal integrity, and maintaining traceable engineering documentation.

Location: On-site in Long Beach, California, United States; project-related travel is typically 10%–25%.

Base salary: $85,000–$130,000 for Level II or $110,000–$145,000 for Level III per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

  • Design, develop, and maintain ground support systems and equipment according to technical specifications, safety standards, and operational requirements.
  • Plan and execute equipment modifications, repairs, calibrations, and maintenance for racks, enclosures, and DAQs used in system and component-level testing.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation for installations, troubleshooting, and equipment upgrades.
  • Design GSE schematics and support fabrication, bring-up, and checkout of ground support equipment.
  • Maintain documentation for engineering processes, changes, and maintenance activities to ensure traceability.
  • Provide on-site technical assistance during scheduled maintenance and testing while ensuring safe and correct equipment use.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of hands-on experience building test equipment and interfacing with DAQ hardware in a test or production laboratory.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Controls, Computer, or Aerospace Engineering, or a comparable discipline.
  • Familiarity with Ethernet and serial communication protocols, including signal integrity, grounding, and shielding.
  • Ability to maintain or obtain a TS//SCI clearance.
  • Must meet U.S. Government ITAR eligibility requirements: U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, protected individual status, or eligibility to obtain the required authorizations.
  • Ability to work on-site and meet the physical demands of the role, including bending, sitting, lifting, and driving.

Nice to have

  • Aerospace or startup experience.
  • PCB design experience with Altium.
  • Test software experience with C++, Python, LabVIEW, or Simulink.
  • Mechanical or electrical CAD experience, including tolerance stack-ups.
  • Experience designing, building, and testing wire harnesses.
