Salary: $100,000–$140,000 per year

Company

hirify.global is developing commercial fusion energy through stellarator designs that use computer-controlled arrays of planar coils.

What you will do

  • Run and analyze integrated modeling simulations for the Eos and Helios stellarators.
  • Apply gyrokinetic, fluid, and reduced transport solvers to project confinement, heat, particle, and momentum transport.
  • Maintain and extend gyrokinetic and transport modeling frameworks.
  • Build reproducible simulation pipelines and data analysis tools for the design-to-validation workflow.
  • Use turbulence and transport analysis to guide equilibrium and coil optimization.
  • Collaborate with physics and engineering teams to develop operational scenarios and interpret hardware results.

Requirements

  • PhD in Plasma Physics, Computational Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field; a master’s degree with 3+ years of direct transport or turbulence modeling experience may be considered.
  • Strong understanding of gyrokinetic theory and transport processes.
  • Experience developing scientific simulation codes in Python, C++, or Fortran.
  • Experience with Linux-based HPC environments, code scalability, and performance optimization.
  • Ability to manage complex projects from theory through implementation with minimal supervision.
  • Rigorous approach to code verification and physics validation.

Nice to have

  • Experience with core or edge gyrokinetic codes such as GENE, stella, CGYRO, GX, GENE-X, XGC, or Gkeyll.
  • Experience with stellarator equilibrium and stability codes including VMEC, STELLOPT, DESC, or TERPSICHORE.
  • Familiarity with advanced numerical methods, GPU programming, or surrogate and reduced models.
  • Peer-reviewed publications and experience presenting complex physics to multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Culture & Benefits

  • Collaborative, fast-paced startup environment focused on fusion energy.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits.
  • Employee equity stock options.
  • 20 days of paid time off.
