Sr. Manufacturing and Weld Engineer

Salary: $94,000–$141,000 per year, plus potential annual incentive and/or long-term incentives.

What you will do

• Design and improve manufacturing processes using lean and Six Sigma principles to reduce cost, waste, and cycle time.
• Lead Design for Manufacturability and Manufacturing for Design initiatives to improve producibility and part quality.
• Develop, optimize, and qualify electron beam, laser beam, GTAW, orbital tube, GMAW, and SMAW welding processes.
• Provide welding expertise on code requirements, welding techniques, destructive and non-destructive testing, and weld procedures.
• Design tooling and fixtures, and select automation, robotics, CNC systems, and other manufacturing equipment.
• Support product introduction, quality processes, vendor relationships, documentation, and root-cause corrective actions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience with the design, fabrication, manufacturing, and/or testing of welded assemblies.
• Strong CAD/CAM, engineering drawing, GD&T, and specification interpretation skills.
• Experience setting up automated or robotic welding cells and adapting designs for automated welding.
• Hands-on experience with lean manufacturing, root-cause problem solving, tooling, fixtures, and materials including steels, stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, or high-nickel alloys.
• Work location: Rochester, NY, United States. Commitment to safety and alignment with OSHA and site-specific protocols are required.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or equivalent engineering experience.
• Lean/Six Sigma Green or Black Belt, PMP, AWS CWEng, CWI, or NDT Level 1 or 2 certification.
• Experience independently developing complete weld procedures and applying ASME BPVC Section VIII, Divisions 1 and 2.
• Experience with ASME Authorized Inspection Authorities, large structural weldments, or mid-to-high-volume production.
• Experience mentoring engineers, apprentices, or technicians.
