Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Nuclear)

Location: 100% onsite at hirify.global's headquarters in El Segundo, California, United States. Extended hours and weekends may be required for critical program milestones.

Salary: $133.5K–$184.8K annually, plus equity.

Company

hirify.global is a startup developing mass-produced, portable nuclear microreactors. Its Kaleidos reactor is designed for safe, transportable power generation for hospitals, data centers, remote sites, and military bases.

What you will do

• Own manufacturing and inspection processes for critical reactor components, mechanisms, structures, and integrated assemblies.
• Partner with design engineering to apply DFM/DFA and reduce mass, part count, assembly time, complexity, and production risk.
• Develop, qualify, document, and improve fabrication and assembly processes, work instructions, inspection plans, tooling requirements, and production controls.
• Design production tooling, fixtures, assembly aids, lifting equipment, and other manufacturing infrastructure.
• Work with Quality and Test Engineering to resolve defects, nonconformances, build issues, and acceptance challenges through root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Develop suppliers and support hands-on builds while improving repeatability, throughput, yield, labor content, and production scalability.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of experience manufacturing complex mechanical hardware in a production, development, or high-reliability environment.
• Experience applying DFM/DFA and owning manufacturing processes from development through qualification and production implementation.
• Strong knowledge of machining, joining, fastening, alignment, tolerance control, inspection, engineering drawings, CAD models, specifications, and GD&T.
• Experience creating work instructions, process specifications, routings, inspection plans, and corrective actions.
• Must work 100% onsite in El Segundo and be willing to support extended hours and weekends when necessary.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience transitioning complex hardware from prototype builds into repeatable or scaled production.
• Background in aerospace, energy, nuclear, automotive, defense, turbomachinery, or another high-reliability industry.
• Experience with precision machining, dimensional inspection, non-destructive evaluation, tolerance analysis, custom tooling, process qualification, first article inspection, statistical process control, or manufacturing automation.
• Experience developing suppliers for low-volume, high-complexity hardware.
