Senior Development Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Auckland, New Zealand; New Zealand office-based role

What you will do

• Create and rapidly iterate conceptual CAD designs for structures and mechanisms across the Neutron launch vehicle.
• Develop detailed designs, drawing packages, technical reports, FMEA, P&IDs, and ICDs for metallic and composite components and assemblies.
• Work with analysis and manufacturing engineers to ensure designs meet functional, performance, and manufacturability requirements.
• Define requirements, develop test plans, monitor test activities, and document test results for structures and mechanisms.
• Design test jigs and fixtures, post-process test data, and support development and qualification testing.
• Identify and solve technical challenges while maintaining safe, timely project delivery.

Requirements

• Degree or equivalent qualification in aerospace, mechanical, or mechatronic engineering.
• At least 5 years of experience designing high-performance mechanical systems.
• Experience with CAD software such as NX, Fibersim, SolidWorks, or CATIA.
• Strong analytical, communication, teamwork, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• For New Zealand office roles, eligibility to access equipment and data regulated under U.S. ITAR is required; nationality checks will be conducted before an employment offer.

Nice to have

• Experience with metallic or composite structures.
• Experience with mechanisms, pressurised systems, or fluid systems.
