TL;DR
Intern – Thruster Development (Aerospace): Designing and developing electric propulsion thrusters, building breadboard prototypes, and supporting hot-fire testing of experimental chemical rocket thrusters with an accent on component selection, thruster sizing, test setup preparation, and technical analysis. Focus on validating propulsion designs through hands-on prototyping, executing tests across multiple thrust classes, and interpreting test data.

What you will do

  • Research and design breadboard models for testing propulsion subcomponents.
  • Select, source, and order components; assemble prototypes and size electric thrusters.
  • Prepare thrusters and test setups for hot-fire testing.
  • Execute hot-fire tests across different chemical thruster designs and thrust classes.
  • Analyse test results, document findings in technical reports, and propose improvements to test setups or thruster designs.
  • Support the thruster development team in day-to-day engineering activities.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a BSc or MSc programme, or equivalent, in Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Available for a full-time internship of at least four months.
  • Hands-on engineering experience and theoretical knowledge of chemical propulsion.
  • Familiarity with electric propulsion concepts and experience writing technical reports.
  • Strong English communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in CAD, specifically SolidWorks.

Nice to have

  • Hands-on rocket engine development experience, including student projects.
  • Familiarity with high-pressure gases, particularly nitrous oxide.
  • Familiarity with electronics and breadboard testing.
