Salary: $120,000–$140,000 per year

hirify.global is developing stellarator-based fusion energy systems using computer-controlled arrays of planar coils to create a simpler path toward commercial fusion energy.

What you will do

  • Develop algorithms to analyze and improve stellarator configurations.
  • Run simulations and analyze fusion plasma behavior using computational models.
  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers to refine stellarator designs and improve system performance.
  • Perform data analysis, validate models, and interpret the physical mechanisms governing plasma behavior.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and publications based on simulation and optimization results.

Requirements

  • PhD in Plasma Physics, Computational Physics, Applied Physics, or a related field, or a relevant master’s degree with 2+ years of experience.
  • Strong knowledge of computational plasma physics and numerical simulations.
  • Programming experience with scientific computing languages such as Python, Fortran, C++, or MATLAB.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate with scientists and engineers.

Nice to have

  • Experience with stellarators and stellarator design, stability, or transport codes such as DESC, STELLOPT, VMEC, TERPSICHORE, M3DC-1, GX, or GENE-3D.
  • Knowledge of optimized stellarator magnetic field generation and coil optimization techniques.
  • Experience in high-performance computing environments.
