Senior R&D Machine Designer (SolidWorks)

Location: Commerce City, Colorado, primarily based at the Denver facility; onsite office, engineering, and shop-floor work with occasional travel to other sites or suppliers

Salary: $117,000–$174,000 per year, plus potential annual incentive and/or long-term incentives

What you will do

• Design specialized custom machinery and equipment from concept to completion using SolidWorks.
• Create detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, drawings, and equipment specifications.
• Design hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, including controls integration.
• Participate hands-on in fabrication and assembly, troubleshooting and refining designs with fabricators.
• Test and validate equipment performance and make design adjustments as needed.
• Manage multiple R&D projects, coordinate with production teams and vendors, and document designs and processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 10+ years of machine design and custom equipment design experience.
• Expert proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling, assemblies, and detailed drawings.
• Experience designing hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, with knowledge of PLC or controls integration.
• Strong understanding of welding, sheet metal, machining, fabrication, GD&T, and practical equipment design.
• Ability to manage multiple design projects independently and participate hands-on in machine fabrication and assembly.

Nice to have

• FEA or simulation analysis experience.
• Hands-on fabrication or machining background.
• Experience with automation equipment, process-improvement machinery, or diverse manufacturing environments.
• Experience in a lean manufacturing environment.
