Hardware Debug and Validation Engineer

Location: Santa Clara, California; primarily in-office at the Santa Clara office

Annual base salary: $180,000–$270,000 USD. The role may also be eligible for incentive pay and/or equity.

What you will do

• Debug hardware- and system-level issues across storage products.
• Lead hardware and mechanical validation of new drive designs internally and with JDM partners.
• Perform board-level signal and power measurements, mechanical and thermal testing, and four-corner testing.
• Support interoperability testing and debug Pure Storage devices in customer systems.
• Analyze and document test results and perform failure and root cause analysis for field issues, customer escalations, and factory defects.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on corrective actions and process improvements.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in hardware/system validation and debug.
• B.S. in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
• Experience with Python and Bash scripting.
• Hands-on laboratory experience with oscilloscopes, VNAs, protocol analyzers, power loads/analyzers, current probes, and soldering rework.
• Understanding of PCIe, DDR, NAND, SPI, and I2C protocols.
• Enterprise systems experience, with storage or server experience preferred, plus strong verbal and written communication skills.
