What you will do

• Execute sensor validation activities for next-generation Oura Ring hardware and evaluate signal quality across motion, optical, electrical, and thermal domains.
• Contribute to test planning and adapt test methods, fixtures, tools, and workflows for the San Francisco lab.
• Conduct hands-on laboratory and field testing, identify unexpected behavior, and support root-cause investigations.
• Analyze sensor data and performance with Python and appropriate data-analysis methods.
• Prepare data-driven reports and communicate findings to hardware, algorithms, firmware, embedded software, testing, science, and product-quality stakeholders.
• Improve test capabilities, documentation, automation, reporting, and repeatable sensor-validation practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience in sensor testing, hardware validation, laboratory measurement, research, or a related engineering environment.
• Working experience with Python for data analysis, test tooling, or automation.
• Basic familiarity with analog or digital signal analysis and processing, electronics, sensors, or embedded systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, ownership, collaboration, and written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel to Oura sites and contract manufacturing facilities, including occasional travel to suppliers or Finland.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of human physiology and physiological signals.
• Experience with electronics and implementing test fixtures.
• Background in hardware testing and debugging, including software interfaces.
• Familiarity with regulatory testing for medical or wearable devices.
