Senior Automation Engineer

Location: EMEA; HQ in Rubí, Barcelona. Hybrid-friendly approach.

What you will do

• Design detailed electrical schematics focused on safety, energy efficiency, electromagnetic compatibility, and applicable standards.
• Collaborate across the full product lifecycle, from conceptualization and new product introduction through quality assurance and industrialization.
• Program PLC control logic for prototypes and custom series, and develop embedded software for process control.
• Manage and optimize the Bill of Materials for viable high-volume manufacturing.
• Create technical specifications, user manuals, and maintenance procedures.
• Diagnose and resolve automation-system issues to minimize downtime and maintain performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical, Mechatronics, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 7 years of experience in product development, automation design, programming, and implementation.
• Experience with PLC languages and C for embedded systems.
• Proficiency with EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical.
• Experience with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, OPC UA, CAN, SPI, or I2C.
• Familiarity with CE marking, UL certifications, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration.

Nice to have

• Experience with ST, NXP, Nordic, or TI microcontrollers and DSPs.
• Experience with Jenkins, GitLab, or Bitbucket runners for pipeline and job automation.
• Experience with Zephyr or FreeRTOS, including CMake toolchains.
• Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments.
