What you will do

  • Architect and build the end-to-end perception pipeline from raw camera, LiDAR, IMU, force/torque, and joint-sensor data to actionable world models.
  • Develop sensor-fusion, object-detection and tracking, 3D-reconstruction, and scene-understanding capabilities for humanoid and collaborative robots.
  • Research state-of-the-art robot perception and deep learning, transferring relevant academic results to real robots.
  • Design, train, fine-tune, and deploy neural networks in the cloud and on embedded robotic hardware.
  • Implement real-time perception software in modern C++ and Python using classical computer vision and GPU acceleration.
  • Validate perception modules in Gazebo, Isaac Sim, and real robot platforms while collaborating with hardware, control, planning, and manipulation teams.

Requirements

  • Excellent Master's or PhD degree in computer science, robotics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience building robust perception stacks for dynamic, human-centered environments.
  • Strong programming skills in Python or modern C++.
  • Practical experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow for robotics perception tasks.
  • Solid background in computer vision, 3D and multi-view geometry, sensor fusion, point-cloud processing, and OpenCV.
  • Excellent English-language communication skills and availability for on-site work in Metzingen / Riederich are required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with CUDA and GPU acceleration.
  • Deployment on NVIDIA Jetson or other embedded robotics hardware.
  • Experience with ROS2, DDS, PCL, Gazebo, or Isaac Sim.
