CA - Claims Adjuster, Workers Compensation (Insurance)

Location: Remote within the United States; territories excluded. Remote employees must live and work in the United States and have reliable, high-speed internet.

Salary: $80,000–$100,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Independently manage workers’ compensation claims from setup through closure.
• Investigate claims, make compensability decisions, set reserves, and administer statutory medical and indemnity benefits.
• Mitigate claim exposure, identify early resolution opportunities, evaluate exposure, and negotiate settlements.
• Manage defense counsel, litigation activity, legal fees, and claim-related costs.
• Support agents, insureds, TPA adjusters, and claims partners with claim guidance, status updates, coverage verification, and loss run reports.
• Improve claims operations, service protocols, standard operating procedures, and handling processes.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years of workers’ compensation claims experience, including claims experience in California.
• Knowledge of jurisdictional regulatory and statutory requirements, including CMS/MSA requirements.
• Experience with claim adjudication, medical management, and litigation management.
• Strong written and verbal communication, problem-solving, conflict-resolution, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to manage complex claims and mitigate exposure with limited guidance.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with some college coursework.
• Experience with G-Suite and collaboration tools such as Slack.
