Property Claims Adjuster II (RI or Eastern CT - WFH)

Location: Work from home with regular day travel to policy locations across Rhode Island and Eastern Connecticut, averaging 3–4 days per week; occasional overnight travel and catastrophe deployment are required.

Salary: $62,500–$93,500 expected starting annual range; national range $62,500–$115,500.

What you will do

• Investigate and resolve moderate to severe property damage claims by phone, virtually, and through face-to-face inspections.
• Determine policy coverage, apply claims practices, and open, close, and adjust reserves within delegated authority.
• Write estimates, evaluate repair requirements and local market pricing, and manage claims from start to finish.
• Prepare severe incident, reinsurance, lawsuit, trial, and subrogation files as needed.
• Partner with Special Investigations and Subrogation teams to identify fraud and recovery opportunities.
• Provide professional customer service while coordinating with policyholders, claimants, repair professionals, attorneys, and agents.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of property claims handling or insurance field adjusting experience.
• Proficiency with Xactimate and experience writing independent estimates.
• Residential construction experience, including roofing, remodeling, or water mitigation.
• Strong customer service, written communication, verbal communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience; required state licensing and claims training where applicable.
• Valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, ability to travel, work irregular or extended hours, support catastrophes, and safely inspect rooftops up to an 8/12 pitch.

Nice to have

• Customer service experience involving flexible schedules and extended work hours.
• Ability to provide leadership to less experienced claims associates.

Hiring process

• Credit and/or background checks are required due to the fiduciary responsibilities of the role.
• Xactimate Level 1 certification must be completed within one year, followed by Level 2 certification within two years.
