Program Manager (Embedded Systems)

Location: San Diego, California, United States. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance, and qualify as a U.S. Person under applicable export-control regulations.

Salary: $140,000–$193,000 USD annual base salary, plus incentive-plan eligibility.

What you will do

• Lead planning, execution, and delivery of embedded systems programs for defense and space customers.
• Own performance across cost, schedule, technical scope, risk, quality, contractual deliverables, and customer satisfaction.
• Partner with engineering to evaluate technical requirements, tradeoffs, dependencies, and execution risks.
• Maintain integrated program plans, schedules, risk registers, action trackers, deliverable trackers, and executive status reports.
• Coordinate execution across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, contracts, finance, business development, customers, and leadership.
• Lead recovery efforts, drive corrective actions to closure, and communicate program status, risks, and recommendations.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance are required.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, computer, aerospace, systems, mechanical, or a related engineering discipline.
• Engineering experience with embedded systems, avionics, electronics, hardware/software integration, or comparable mission-critical products.
• 3+ years of program management, technical program management, engineering program leadership, or related experience.
• Experience in defense, space, or other highly regulated technical environments, including government contracts, DFARS, ITAR, and export-controlled programs.
• Ability to manage cost, schedule, risk, customer deliverables, contract obligations, and execution tradeoffs in ambiguous, resource-constrained environments.

Nice to have

• Startup, growth-stage, or small-company experience with hands-on cross-functional leadership.
• Program recovery, corrective action, or turnaround experience.
• Experience with embedded software, electronics, avionics, spacecraft, communications, or mission systems.
• Experience with proposals, negotiations, change orders, contract modifications, financial reviews, and Earned Value Management.
• Advanced degree in engineering, business, or a related technical field.
