Engineer, Ride Comfort Objectivation & Simulation (Automotive)

Location: Novi, Michigan, United States; 4–5 days per week in the office with regular in-person meetings and occasional travel required.

Salary: $130,000–$160,000 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Develop, tune, validate, and improve multi-body simulation models for primary and secondary vehicle ride behavior.
• Correlate virtual simulation results with physical test data and enable predictive ride comfort development.
• Own ride comfort objectivation from instrumentation concept and sensor strategy through testing, analysis, and target definition.
• Plan and execute proving-ground testing with development vehicles, mules, and benchmark competitor vehicles across standardized road events.
• Analyze time- and frequency-domain data using metrics including RMS, PSD, ISO weighting, and shock response.
• Translate ride comfort findings, benchmarking, and quantitative targets into engineering direction for chassis, NVH, tires, body, and vehicle integration teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in ride comfort, vehicle dynamics, chassis development, or vehicle testing in an OEM or Tier 1 environment.
• Strong understanding of ride comfort fundamentals, vibration theory, vehicle dynamics, suspension kinematics, compliances, and system behavior.
• Hands-on experience with vehicle instrumentation, proving-ground testing, data acquisition systems, and time-series measurement analysis.
• Proficiency with tools such as CANape, INCA, Diadem, MATLAB, Python, or similar, plus strong experience with Adams, CarSim, Simpack, or equivalent.
• Ability to work onsite in Novi, Michigan 4–5 days per week and travel for company events and testing.
