Salary: $124,000–$216,000 USD per year

Company

hirify.global develops the ES-30, a 30-passenger regional hybrid-electric aircraft targeting type certification by the end of the decade.

What you will do

  • Lead and execute system-level testing of electric motors, inverters, gearboxes, disconnect systems, propellers, and integrated powertrain subsystems.
  • Design and commission hybrid-electric propulsion test stands, hardware-in-the-loop systems, and digital twins.
  • Develop instrumentation, safety systems, control systems, and data acquisition setups for propulsion testing.
  • Plan, execute, and document test campaigns covering performance, safety, environmental conditions, endurance, fault injection, and certification compliance.
  • Coordinate with mechanical, thermal, propulsion, actuation, avionics, battery, supplier, and external laboratory teams.
  • Analyze test data, prepare reports, diagnose performance and failure modes, and provide feedback to design teams.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of professional experience in powertrain, propulsion, or test engineering, preferably with electric or hybrid-electric systems.
  • Hands-on experience designing and operating propulsion or powertrain test stands with complex instrumentation and controls.
  • Strong understanding of electric motors, inverters, batteries, and thermal management systems.
  • Experience with data acquisition systems such as dSPACE, NI, or Dewesoft, plus current/voltage sensors, thermocouples, and strain gauges.
  • Experience developing automated test procedures and control scripts using Python, LabVIEW, or similar tools.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field, with knowledge of high-voltage safety procedures.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with EASA CS-23/25 or FAA FAR Part 23/25 certification requirements.
  • Experience with DO-160 or MIL-STD environmental test standards.
  • Experience with root cause analysis, DFMEA, and fault tree analysis.
  • Background in hybrid propulsion systems or aerospace propulsion integration.

Culture & Benefits

  • Cross-functional work across aircraft propulsion, batteries, avionics, actuation, mechanical, and thermal engineering.
  • Collaboration with suppliers and external testing laboratories.
  • Hands-on involvement in developing and certifying a regional hybrid-electric aircraft.
