Associate Network Engineer

Location: Batu Kawan, Penang, Malaysia; onsite at the Penang SDSM Office

What you will do

• Execute assigned network service and feature tasks using established standards, procedures, runbooks, and implementation plans.
• Assist with deploying, configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting LAN, WAN, wireless, firewall, DHCP, DNS, and related network services.
• Support small network changes and maintenance windows, including change records, validation steps, and backout plans.
• Participate in incident triage by collecting logs, validating symptoms, documenting troubleshooting, and escalating issues.
• Maintain network diagrams, implementation notes, documentation, and handover details.
• Collaborate with peers, operations teams, vendors, service providers, stakeholders, and global IT functions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Networking, or a related discipline.
• At least 2 years of professional experience or equivalent foundational knowledge in enterprise networking, network operations, infrastructure support, or related technical roles.
• Foundational understanding of IP networking, including TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, wireless, firewalls, and load balancers.
• Ability to follow documented standards, runbooks, change procedures, and troubleshooting guides with senior-engineer guidance.
• Strong documentation, communication, analytical, problem-resolution, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate with global IT teams and work outside regular business hours when required.

Nice to have

• Experience with network monitoring, logging, IP address management, configuration backup, and ticketing tools.
• Exposure to enterprise network operations, NOC, service desk, or infrastructure support environments.
• Entry-level networking certification, relevant coursework, or hands-on lab experience.
• Understanding of data center networking technologies or experience in a manufacturing environment.
