Data Engineering Manager

Company

Develops battery materials and energy storage solutions by recovering, reusing, and recycling batteries to localize the U.S. battery supply chain.

What you will do

• Lead and grow a team of data engineers and analysts through hiring, mentoring, career development, and performance management.
• Own the long-term roadmap and prioritization for the data platform, balancing infrastructure investments, pipeline development, and analytics requests.
• Partner with business units to identify needs, scope problems, and translate requirements into technical deliverables.
• Oversee data pipelines across streaming datasets, APIs, and multiple data stores, ensuring reliability and data quality.
• Operationalize production workloads through on-call expectations, monitoring, triage, and incident response.
• Stay technically hands-on by reviewing code, prototyping solutions, and contributing to pipeline and infrastructure work.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience building data solutions in modern cloud environments, including at least 2 years managing technical teams.
• Strong Python and SQL skills for code review, design evaluation, and solving complex technical problems.
• Experience with data engineering stacks including relational and non-relational data stores, ELT orchestration, transformation tooling, and data observability or catalog tooling.
• Experience operating AWS data platforms using infrastructure-as-code methodologies.
• Ability to manage production data workloads at scale, including monitoring, issue diagnosis, and incident response.

• AWS CDK experience.
• Familiarity with containerized workloads in Kubernetes.
