Mid/Senior Software Engineer (Java/Kotlin)

Location: Zagreb, Croatia; flexible hybrid work model combining in-person collaboration with remote work.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming principles, data structures, and algorithms.
• Experience with concurrent and multi-tier applications.
• Understanding of RESTful services and code testing practices.
• Ability to write clean, well-designed, testable, and scalable code.
• Comfort with modern development approaches, including AI-assisted coding tools and agents.
• Primary focus on backend development with an interest in growing toward full-stack development.

Nice to have

• Experience with Java, Spring, and Spring Boot.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Git, Maven, or Canary.
• Understanding of MSSQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, RabbitMQ, Kafka, or similar technologies.
• Experience with Kotlin, Python, Docker, or Kubernetes.

What you will do

• Develop, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot team-owned services on a global communications platform.
• Build and operate backend services within a scalable microservices architecture processing more than 500 million messages daily.
• Own code throughout its lifecycle, from development through production.
• Collaborate with Product Management on feature development and delivery.
• Develop RCS platform capabilities for rich, interactive, branded business messaging experiences.
• Explore and integrate AI or LLM-based capabilities into relevant product features.
