TL;DR
Technical Staff Engineer – Business Development (Aerospace & Defense, U.S. West Region) (FPGA/space technology): Driving customer engagement, technical sales, and market strategy for radiation-tolerant and space-grade FPGA solutions with an accent on aerospace and defense business development. Focus on developing design-ins and design-wins, influencing product roadmaps, and presenting technical solutions to U.S. West Region customers.

Location: Irvine, California, United States; U.S. citizenship, permanent U.S. residency, or protected-individual status required for export-controlled technology access

Annual base salary: $75,000–$232,000, plus restricted stock units and quarterly bonus payments

What you will do

  • Build and manage relationships with major aerospace and defense customers across the U.S. West Region.
  • Identify, qualify, and develop new FPGA business opportunities.
  • Deliver technical updates, product briefings, and solution presentations onsite and virtually.
  • Partner with sales teams to manage pipelines, resolve deal blockers, and accelerate opportunity closure.
  • Drive FPGA design-ins and design-wins while contributing to forecasting and operational planning.
  • Influence product roadmaps, IP priorities, go-to-market activities, and long-term strategy through market insight.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in FPGA field applications, technical sales, or semiconductor business development.
  • Strong communication skills for presenting technical value and understanding customer needs.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, marketing, and sales teams.
  • Strategic mindset focused on technology direction and customer success.
  • U.S. citizenship, permanent U.S. residency, or protected-individual classification required under U.S. export-control requirements.
